Finland could buy billions in either F-35 or F-18 fighters, State Department announces

The State Department has approved the possible sale of either the F/A-18EF Super Hornet or the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter to Finland, which could net the United States at least an estimated $12.5 billion deal depending on which the European nation chooses.

Finland is in the midst of choosing a new fighter jet for its HX Fighter Program, a competition that includes the Lockheed Martin-made F-35 and the Boeing-produced Super Hornet. Both U.S. companies are up against France’s Dassault Rafale, the United Kingdom’s Eurofighter Typhoon and Sweden’s Saab Gripen E/F.

The F-35 deal would include 64 F-35As and related equipment, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said in a statement on Friday.

Flint City Council President Monica Galloway requested an update on the city’s financial health in regard to the impact of coronavirus, status on collection rate for water bills, receivables, and the status of the city on property tax collection for the first quarter of this fiscal year.

“We haven’t had an update on finances since we’ve been in COVID, and I know that Councilwoman (Kate) Fields has some questions on some other things, but mine specifically are to address where we are on receivables after being in COVID for at least 6 months,” said Galloway.

Did Pebble Mine execs lie to Congress about their plans for Alaska project? Cantwell calls for Justice Department investigation

Seattle Times staff reporter

Washington Democratic Sen. Maria Cantwell on Tuesday called for the Justice Department to investigate whether Pebble Mine executives have lied to Congress and in documents submitted to the federal government about their plans for tapping into a massive gold, copper and molybdenum deposit in the Bristol Bay region of southwest Alaska.

The region’s freshwater rivers, streams and lakes support the spawning of the world’s largest sockeye salmon runs, which hundreds of Washington fishermen head north to Alaska each summer to help harvest. And Cantwell, for years, has been a critic of the mine and the risks that its development would pose to the salmon resource.

Cantwell’s request for the Justice Department investigation follows the release earlier in September of secretly recorded conversations of Pebble Mine executives by the Environmental Investigation Agency. These recordings indicate officials are contemplating a larger and longer mining operation than outlined

How do I file a claim?
Depending upon whether you have bought your insurance through an agent or directly from an insurance company will determine the first step in filing a claim. If you have an agent, notify your agent as soon as possible. Your agent will take your claim information, file it with the company to start the claim process and advise you what to expect next. If you do not have an agent, the company will have a toll-free claims number to call to report your claim. If you or your passengers were injured, or you believe you may have been injured (even if slightly), call your agent or company. Under North Dakota law, your auto’s no-fault coverage is primary, regardless of fault.

To make a claim against another party, contact the agent or company for that party to put them on notice. They will take your claim

Automobile Insurance And You

Auto insurance protects you from financial losses such as vehicle repairs, medical bills, and legal services that could result from an auto accident. Although Mississippiʼs auto insurance rates compare favorably to other parts of the United States – where a yearʼs premium on a vehicle can

How to Evaluate Your Finance Department

May 4, 2020
| finance

Nobody knows your business better than you do. After all, you are the CEO. You know what the engineers do; you know what the production managers do; and nobody understands the sales process better than you. You know who is carrying their weight and who isn’t. That is, unless we’re talking about the finance and accounting managers.

They have often gained some knowledge of finance and accounting through their careers, but only to the extent necessary. So, how does the diligent CEO evaluate the finance and accounting functions in his company? All too often, the CEO assigns a qualitative value based on the quantitative message. In other words, if the Controller delivers … Read More
