SpartanNash seeks to fill 1,000 openings in Michigan

KENT COUNTY, MI — SpartanNash is looking to fill more than 1,000 openings at its grocery stores and gas stations in Michigan.

The openings are for a variety of positions, including cashiers, baristas, personal shoppers, deli clerks, pharmacy technicians and butchers.

Starting hourly rates are between $12 and $14, said Shaquanda Gordon, vice president of human resources, talent and diversity.

The positions offer flexible hours for days, nights and weekends, the company said. About 80 percent of the openings are for part-time positions, while the remainder are for full-time jobs.

Factors contributing to the demand for employees is a “significant” sales increase amid the coronavirus pandemic due to fewer people frequenting restaurants, Gordon said.

Seasonal hiring needs and employee turnover have also played a role.

“There were a lot of people who said I either don’t feel safe or I have family members who I can’t expose due to COVID,”

It currently owns 946 properties that are spread across 35 states. As seen below, the properties well diversified, with exposure to much of the United States.

What I like about Getty Realty is the need-based products and services that its properties provide. Its properties are generally located in densely-populated, high-traffic areas. Currently, 55%

The organization had been supplying the city’s lower-income neighborhoods with earthquake kits, grocery gift cards and survival education since 2017. They shifted gears amid the pandemic, giving their stockpile of masks a new purpose in the fight against the coronavirus.

Now, with wildfires raging near the Bay Area and smoke choking the northern California air, CRC is pivoting once again, looking to consolidate their kits so they can be used during any emergency.

“We’re trying to feed two birds with one stone,” said Tur-Ha Ak, a longtime activist and the founder of CRC. “And given that wildfires are seasonal and
