She has excellent listening and problem-solving skills

It used to be that if you asked someone who they’re insured with, they’d give you their insurance agent’s name. Billions of dollars in advertising later, people now name their carrier and barely remember the agent that signed them on. Meanwhile, the brick and mortar agencies are waning in importance, and companies like Nationwide are moving to a virtual workforce model. As we prepare to celebrate World Financial Planning Day on Oct. 7, maximize this opportunity to get your financial house in order with a financial plan so you can stay above uncertainties.

From the Great Recession to today’s health crisis, we are reminded that there are things that are out of our control. Uncertain times come without an invitation; times that try men’s souls usually appear without advance notice.

How can you be better prepared so these uncertain times don’t destroy your finances? What can you do to build your house on a rock so that when the storm comes, it will still be standing?

Financial Planning and Uncertainties

People without a stable financial plan jump on every movement in the stock market. They buy stocks because everyone is buying and selling them because everyone is selling. Warren Buffett calls it the ”fear-greed” cycle.

The Bank of New York Mellon (BNY Mellon) is being taken to court over its alleged involvement in the $4 billion Ponzi scheme OneCoin, according to court documents published by CoinDesk earlier today.

The class-action lawsuit has been amended by investors Donald Berdeaux and Christine Grablis to include the major U.S. bank.

Berdeaux and Grablis are seeking damages against OneCoin and its leadership days after an explosive investigation by Buzzfeed News and the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists found BNY Mellon had processed some $137 million in funds connected to the OneCoin scam.

According to the report, the investors put in about $1 million into the company and allege that the bank processed the payments four years ago and flagged it as a possible Ponzi scheme through an internal investigation in December 2016. However, the investors claim the bank did not file a suspicious activity report (SAR) with the Financial

The city’s replacement for outgoing Director of Finance Debbie Reid is a familiar face to Mesquite residents.

Cindy Smith is set to take over as the new director of finance after arriving earlier this year as the assistant director of finance. Smith will take over for Reid, who is moving to Amarillo to take a similar role, on Oct. 1.

The Mesquite Arts Center, shown here in a file photo, received a grant to continue its virtual programs during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Mesquite’s community has been very welcoming to me since I arrived earlier this year. And the team in our Finance Department have been very supportive during my transition into the organization,” Smith said in a news release. “I am grateful for this opportunity to continue my career with a city that is growing and expanding, and to serve citizens who expect a high performing government.”

Smith has more than 16 years of experience in the finance world and is certified as a Government Financial Manager and in Public Management, according

Similar circumstances reached the U.K. as the Bank of England cleared an authorization to provide liquidity support to Northern Rock, the country’s fifth largest mortgage lender. Five months later, Treasury of the United Kingdom became the owner of Northern Rock.

Up until that point, the gravity of these “difficult … Read More
